Judas Iscariot
Did he kill himself?
1) He repented.
Let's go back to verse 3.
Matthew 27: 3
Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
There is only one unforgivable sin, and it isn't even possible to happen yet (a different song on this same album). This can only happen after Satan appears. It is when we will be on trial for our beliefs and the Holy Spirit speaks through us.
Luke 12: 10
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven.
Luke 12: 11
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
Luke 12: 12
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
So if Judas' repentance was sincere is he not covered under the blood of Jesus? Judas gave the money back and confessed that he betrayed the innocent. He repented, and he returned the silver. That does not make what he did okay, but he did repent, and got rid of the ill gotten gains.
True repentance is to have a change of heart. There is a medical condition in which grief can cause a person to choke to death. The Greek word translated to hanged is apagchomai. It means to strangle oneself, but the root word is agcho which means to choke. Intense grief can initiate heart problems:
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy or broken heart syndrome, a condition that mimics a heart attack with symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath.
Grief can exact a heavy toll on a person's health. People are more likely to die when they're in mourning than in ordinary times, a phenomenon that's so well known it has its own name in scientific literature: the “widowhood effect.” That's partly due to the negative changes that can affect the heart during mourning.
Even higher education recognizes the impact sincere grief has on us:
Grief can cause inflammation that can kill, according to new research from Rice University.
I'm not saying that this happened, but there's enough medical evidence to support it could have. I can't imagine another case that would have a fraction of the weight knowing you betrayed God, and how your betrayal lead to the Crucifixion.
Yes it's possible even if it's just part of something bigger, but on it's own it is not my current opinion.
