Atheists Say

Christianity; an athiests perspective.

Christianity; The popular belief that a celestial Jewish baby who is also his own father, born from a virgin mother, died for three days so that he could ascend to heaven on a cloud and then make you live forever only if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him you accept him as your lord & master so he can remove an evil force from your spiritual being that is present in all humanity because an immoral woman made from a man's rib was hoodwinked by a talking reptile possessed by an malicious angel to secretly eat forbidden fruit from a magical tree.

9) and telepathically tell him you accept him as your lord & master so he can remove an evil force from your spiritual being

God hears our prayers.

When we think of "telepathic" we picture being able to have a conversation without talking. Humans are not telepathic. However, we do express our communication to God through prayer. When we pray God does not "speak" to us. It's not a dialogue, but that doesn't take away our ability to feel the closeness, or have an emotional response. That's how the comforter works for everyone. We don't reach a certain level and then suddenly hear God's voice, unless you're one of a very few that had such an interaction (Moses, Noah, Balaam, Job, Ezekiel, Paul...), okay so examples exist, but very few, and for the reproof of the scriptures. If you're on that big of a mission I would never doubt it, but the majority of us pray to communicate with God. It is the established method throughout the scriptures, and we are instructed to communicate through prayer.

Jeremiah 29: 12

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

1 Thessalonians 2: 13

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

1 Thessalonians 5: 17

Pray without ceasing.

Prayer isn't limited to a formal setting, or some ceremonial pageantry. Prayer is available 24 hours a day, regardless of your location or scenario. Never cease checking in throughout the day. Share your day with him. Express concern for your friends. Ask for guidance in pursuit of your dreams. Ask for wisdom and an unlocking of the scriptures, then read the book to get your answer... prayer is the method.

If you have a regular prayer time that's totally fine. Get to your alone place, wherever it is. Then privately share, and open your heart.

Matthew 6: 6

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

He wants us to get beyond this being a wish list meeting. Take it deeper into a personal growth meeting. Reconcile your account, and repent for transgressions you know you made. In private, between just the two of you.

1 John 1: 9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

It's how to stay clean. Talk to him as you would your parent, or how you would like your child to talk to you. He'll meet you on any level, and day by day get you where you want to be. That growth only comes from sincerity.

Rehearsed prayer on the other hand is basically a song that's been played too much, and gets skipped over.

Matthew 6: 7

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

And don't do it for show. If it's not sincere then it's vanity.

Matthew 6: 5

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

They have their reward means they've been compensated. There's nothing beyond whatever they got at that moment (money, fame, prestige). Maybe they are virtue signaling, but it's possible it is sincere? We will never know because we can't read minds. We are not the judge. But God is, God can, and God does.

Psalm 94: 11

The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

He knows your thoughts. Just be honest, and start communicating.

Matthew 21: 22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Start communicating.

Matthew 7: 7

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Start communicating.

Matthew 7: 8

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

The function of prayer is for us to communicate through the same channel that God monitors. He can judge fairly because he knows what we are thinking when we do things. How much more will he hear if that soul is reaching out to him?

Jeremiah 17: 10

I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

It's how we are judged. That's your intent, your character, your disposition, there's so many ways capture this, but the bottom line is he knows our hearts and is in charge of the tests we individually face. Even when God was here in the flesh, he knew what we thought. That was an example, so we would know it's true.

Mark 2: 8

And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

He knew what they were thinking. They surely were not praying to him, but he knew their thoughts. Actions are not the only method we are all evaluated, weather we pray or not.

Praying is the way we actively participate from our side. Sometimes when we pray it's to share a happy moment. Sometimes it's to ask for guidance. Sometimes on behalf of a friend or loved one. In each case it is us reaching out.

1 John 5: 14

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

That's according to his will, not ours brethren.

He is our Lord.

There is only one God, and through his plan of salvation he secured the eternity, and defeated Satan. He is referred to as Lord or Master over 700 times in the New Testament.

John 13: 13

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

That is his position. It is defined by the same scriptures that prove the plan of salvation.

Revelation 19:16

And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of kings, And Lord of lords.

He has secured the spot of Lord and King, and I happily accept him as my master. Serving him is not a burden, it's an honor, and a pleasure.
