Atheists Say
Christianity; an athiests perspective.
Christianity; The popular belief that a celestial Jewish baby who is also his own father, born from a virgin mother, died for three days so that he could ascend to heaven on a cloud and then make you live forever only if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him you accept him as your lord & master so he can remove an evil force from your spiritual being that is present in all humanity because an immoral woman made from a man's rib was hoodwinked by a talking reptile possessed by an malicious angel to secretly eat forbidden fruit from a magical tree.

Serpent was a role.
Satan has many nicknames through the Bible, and they are related to the role he is fulfilling at the moment. Here's some of his names:
Revelation 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
And just as a double witness.
Revelation 20: 2
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Twice. Right there. Satan is the serpent. But that doesn't mean he was in the physical shape of a serpent. He did not mold himself into a snake. The serpent was his role in the garden. Just like those other names are roles, or nicknames, or "hints" for us.
The serpent role is such because it was the lowest thing he could do. He physically tried to undermine and sneak himself into the bloodline that was written about. How he did it is not really taught in today's Sunday schools, but we're going to cover some of it.
Satan is "the serpent", but it's not the only time serpent was used to communicate the roles of others:
Jeremiah 8: 17
For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.
This means not everyone is going to accept your word.
Matthew 10: 16
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Wasn't Satan the most subtle than any beast in the field? We are to be on to them, we mean them no harm.
Genesis 3: 1
Now the serpent was "more subtil than any" beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
We have to be wiser than them to avoid their traps. Including religious traps from so called elders and leaders.
Matthew 23:33
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
All of these descriptions have been of roles. They are spiritual roles, not earthly.
Mark 16:18
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover
And suddenly a church thinks this means a physical snake, and they incorporate them into their service. Why? Do they get bit? Yes! This scripture is telling us we have power over Satan and his minions, not to play with snake.
Luke 10:19
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
What God is saying is that we have power over the evil and it's manifestations. We have a hedge of protection.
2 Corinthians 11:3
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
This verse is very heavy. He knew Eve had no chance. Satan knew too much, and the deception was easy. Likewise there is a simplicity to the big plan which was expressed here in the simplicity of knowing who Christ was, and why he came as he did. Instead people are ripe for the religious picking because they don't have that simple foundation.
Ripe for who's picking? The fallen who were booted with Satan.
Revelation 9: 5
And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
They are going to stun us into submission with their knowledge.
Revelation 9: 19
For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
Are you ready?
